02.28.16 EMS/Tehama Wireless Demand: Today EMS completed the installation of its first wireless demand meter project. Previously, commercial electric meter installations needing demand for billing purposes required a hard wired system designed specifically for the electric meter being installed. EMS has combined the advanced reporting capabilities of the Tehama wireless system with its own data analytics capability to solve the wireless demand problem. This solution makes it possible to mix any number of meter types and utility types at a single property on a single wireless network. EMS CEO Gregg Voltz, “Finding a single wireless system that can handle every meter type has been our goal for many years. Until now the elusive problem has been electric demand. The EMS/Tehama solution allows use to have a single network at a property that may have water, gas, btu, run-time, kWh electric and kWh/kW electric. The key is getting 15 minute interval data from the meter system, then having the backend that can handle that much data. This has been a joint effort between Tehama Wireless, the EMS IT department, and the EMS consulting department.”
