12.12.12 35th Annual Brian’s Run: EMS was proud to be a sponsor of the 2012 Brian’s Run 5 mile race which took place in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Eleanor Bones-Corcoran, Gregg Voltz and Sean Warner ran in the race. The race benefited Homes for Our Troops which supports our wounded veterans and making their homes handicap accessible.
11.10.12 Breath of Life Gala 2012: Gregg Voltz attended the 2012 Breath of Life Gala, which benefited the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. it’s estimated that the gala raised a record $3,400.000 which will fund research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis as well as go toward improving the quality of life for those living with cystic fibrosis.
10.07.12 Sponsorships/Charitable Contributions: EMS contributed to Malvern C.A.R.E.S Walk. Sponsored by Malvern Preparatory School, the event requires all of the school’s 9th and 10th grade students to participate in the 5 mile walk as part of their Christian Service Program. 09.27.12 Andrew Marrow earns LEED Green Associate Status: Congratulations to Andrew Marrow, of EMS’ sales team. Andrew passed his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification exam, and is now a LEED Green Associate. 09.17.12 LEED Certifications: Joe Brnich, Jim Craney, Karl Hawkins, Casey Hogan, Kris Lafferty, Andrew Marrow, Rick Milano and Gregg Voltz recently completed a two day LEED training program and are now eligible to sit for the LEED Green Associate exam. The group learned about the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system and the construction and design process that a structure undergoes in order to become a LEED Certified Building. Points are awarded to a building for following green practices such as installing control systems for lighting and temperature, reducing water consumption and storm water runoff, maximizing open space, and using salvaged or recycled materials during construction.
LEED Green Associate certification and expertise will enable EMS to enhance the current tools and strategies we offer to clients by including green practices that yield even greater energy savings and efficiencies, while conserving precious resources and improving the environment.
07.30.12 Joe Brnich promoted to Director of Operations: EMS is pleased to announce that Joe Brnich has been promoted to Director of Operations. Most recently he served as Field Operations Manager. In his new position, Joe will be overseeing EMS’ Billing and Service Departments.
05.02.12 Pat Cimino’s Retirement: One of Energy Management’s Account Representative Supervisors has decided to retire after eight years of dedicated service. Pat Cimino began her career at EMS in the assistant’s area then progressed from being an assistant to the supervisor of the area. From there she became an account representative and progressed to the supervisor of that area. Pat’s many years of tremendous service will be missed as she progresses to the blissful state of retirement.

EMS is pleased to announce that Kris Lafferty has joined the sales and marketing team as a High Efficiency Lighting Product Specialist. 03.08.12 Energy Management Systems Goes Green. To make the workplace more eco-friendly and to help preserve the environment, Energy Management Systems (EMS) is continuing their efforts to “Go Green!” EMS is taking further steps to help reduce the largest portion of the municipal waste stream. In conjunction with hiring an independent company to collect all EMS disposable paper and paperboard products, EMS has adopted a paperless weekly pay-stub program by giving all employees access to their pay information on line.
02.05.12 Energy Management Systems Bowling Tournament. EMS concluded it’s first ever in-house bowling tournament. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the camaraderie amongst their fellow colleagues. Samantha House (Assistants Department) and Urias Cole (Service Department) were the victors and presented with 1st place trophies (Barbara Hetzell replaced Samantha in final game). Everyone is very excited and can’t wait for next season.

05.19.2011 EMS attends Lightfair International Leviton Metering Services invited Joe Brnich, Andrew Marrow and Gregg Voltz of EMS to attend the 22nd consecutive edition of Light-fair International(LFI). LFI is the world’s largest annual architectural and commer
cial lighting trade show. General Electric, Philips, and Siemens were among 474 exhibitors at event, which was held at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center. Over 23,709 attendees representing 75 nations attended. EMS enjoyed reviewing all the state-of -the art lighting technology and design innovations that were on display. 03.31.2011 EMS Participates in the NJ/PA Sustainability Symposium Martha Voltz, of EMS’s energy procurement services, joined with public officials, business and community leaders, and university professors at the NJ/PA Sustainability Symposium at Rutgers University’s Camden Campus. About one hundred and fifty attended the March 31, 2011 symposium. The event highlighted regional cutting edge technological advances such as the Navy Yard’s innovation hub, the east coast roll out of the electric car, deregulation in Pennsylvania, New Jersey’s leadership in solar energy and wind power at the shore, and developments in waste management and recycling. In addition, the symposium also focused on aspects of regional planning, funding opportunities, community involvement and how businesses, universities, hospitals, and municipalities will engage and execute their sustainability plans in 2011. Martha explained that the symposium was a “fantastic opportunity to obtain information from top policy makers involved with energy conservation. I gained a lot of insight on the direction that technology and legislation is heading for the energy future”
03.30.2011 EMS hosts Leviton Metering Solutions EMS hosted a meeting with representatives from Leviton Integrated Metering Systems. Leviton recently announced a strategic alliance with Obvius, a provider of solutions for collecting energy information, and EFT Energy, a supplier of enterprise energy monitoring and supporting software. The alliance has enabled Leviton to offer its customers the most complete line of submetering and energy management products with the ability to generate comprehensive reports and energy use information. EMS’s service department is currently evaluating an assortment of products provided by Leviton.

The new website contains much information about the history and growth of EMS over the last 30 years, as well as detailed descriptions of the many products and services that EMS currently offers. We plan on updating the website with useful information for our clients on such topics as the impact of changing utility rates, how to take advantage of energy procurement in deregulated states, and the simplest ways to conserve energy and help the environment.
